Technical Writing - Insights from a Technical writing test
In the last week's issue, I shared with you the parts that made up a technical writing test I did a few weeks back.
Today we are going to cover the first part, which was the Coding test.
Allow me to remind you the order of the tests:
Coding test
English test
Writing
Listening
Writing an Elevator pitch on the client's product
The coding test
The coding test consisted of only 1 question. The question was about arrays.
I don't remember the exact details of the question since it was time bound, and I only had a few minutes to think over it and begin the coding. But to give you a brief idea, it needed looping over the array, and for any given one, I should return the total number of 11s found, or if I find 111, I should return false and stop there. (It didn't matter how many 11s were after it).
Insights
The question could have a thousand or more different correct solutions but here are my key take ways from it.
Learning and understanding fundamentals well is very crucial: Arrays are some of the most common data types in JavaScript, not to mention they cut across multiple languages. Loops too also.
Problem solving and critical thinking come in handy. You need to understand the problem in order to solve it and understanding it most times needs critically thinking through it.
Kindly let me know how you would have solved the above issue. And what would have been your key take ways from it.
