Insights from a technical writing test
Hey there,
It's quite a pleasure to see you here again.
Let me start by announcing some changes that have been made to the newsletter.
The name of the newsletter has changed from Web Dev Digest (which included content on Tailwind, WordPress, HTML/CSS, and Tech Writing) to Tech Writing and Tailwind Digest (which provides for Technical Writing and Tailwind content only). The changes have come about due to the following reasons:
Niching down on the content I share with you
A newsletter isn't probably the best place to share very long content. Keeping content short and on target is best.
Giving a descriptive name to the newsletter that explains exactly what is all about.
Those are the significant changes taking effect from today, changes in the name and content of the newsletter. Thank you guys for sticking around 🙏
With all that being said, let's look at what I have got for you today 😃
Technical Writing - Insights from a technical writing test
I recently got this great idea for an article, so I wrote the title, the target audience, the article objective, and the outline, and other complementing details, thinking of publishing it to my blog.
However, mid-way through writing my article, I thought to myself, “Why don't I submit it as a pitch to BlueRocket?”. (BlueRocket is not the actual name of the company. But let's use it as a placeholder). Reaching the BlueRocket website, I was instead given a test, a technical writing test. I had never encountered one in my writing experience.
I wasn't ready for the test, but I went ahead and did it anyways. What could I lose by doing it? If I fail, I learn, and if I pass, I win.
I had quite the enjoyment while doing the test though. It was fun! 😁
Allow me to share with you the parts that the test consisted of, and I will cover each part in detail in the coming issues.
The technical writing test had three main parts. These were:
Coding test
Only one question
English Test (They were about 20 questions or so)
Writing
Listening
Writing an elevator pitch
Writing an elevator pitch on the company's product.
Overall, the test took me around one hour and fifteen minutes to complete and submit.
Tailwind - Tailwind Components Repository
I created a Tailwind GitHub repository a while back, which contains components ranging from simple ones to complex responsive, and customizable components.
It is aimed at helping developers starting out or already using Tailwind CSS to learn and practice their knowledge and skills.
Feel free to contribute to the repository.
You can visit here - Tailwind Components Repository
Let me know what you think of the repository.
Let's talk soon!
